Keating has enjoyed a breakthrough season at Manchester City and become the team’s No.1 at just 19 years old, a position she has justified with some outstanding performances. Her fantastic form has helped City boast the best defensive record in the league this term and it’s now led to individual recognition in the form of the Golden Glove.
THE BIGGER PICTUREKeating’s nine clean sheets in 21 games cannot be chased down by Chelsea’s Hampton (six in 10) or Manchester United’s Earps (seven in 21) ahead of the final day of the season on Saturday, thus confirming the teenager as this year’s recipient ahead of a big weekend.
WHAT KEATING SAID
“This is a really proud moment for myself, but also for the team – keeping as many clean sheets as we have in a league as competitive as the WSL is something that takes a lot of hard work,” Keating said. “It’s really special to be the youngest person to win this award, but I hope it shows all the little girls out there that no matter your age, it shouldn’t be a barrier in achieving success. You learn by being thrown into situations and maturing comes as part of that, and it’s been an incredible season.”

Keating has only conceded 14 goals in those 21 games, despite Man City’s expected goals against number being just short of 18. It’s a statistic that highlights how good the goalkeeper has been, earning her a spot in the England squad from October onwards.

WHAT NEXT FOR KEATING AND MAN CITY?
The teenager will hope that the Golden Glove is not the only trophy she gets her hands on this week, with Man City still well in with a chance of winning the WSL title on Saturday. Keating and her team are level on points with Chelsea at the top of the table with one game to go, though the Blues do have a marginally better goal difference.
