The race for the 2023-24 La Liga Golden Boot award is up and running, as players look to earn the crown of the league’s top goal-scorer.
The Spanish top-flight has always been littered with elite goal-getters, and although Barcelona’s star striker Robert Lewandowski ran away with the Pichichi for the 2022-23 campaign with 23 goals to his name, there is plenty of competition for that prize this term.
There are several contenders for the leading marksman prize, with the likes of Antoine Griezmann, Vinicius Junior, and, surprisingly Real Madrid’s midfield sensation, Jude Bellingham, among those making an early claim, so who will come out on top?
GOAL brings you a fully updated rundown of the leading scorers in La Liga across the 2023-24 season.
1 Artem Dovbyk | Girona | 20 goals
Ukrainian international striker Artem Dovbyk, who netted 32 goals in 48 matches in all competitions last season for Dnipro-1, became the most expensive player in Girona’s history over the summer. He’s already looking to be a very shrewd signing for high-flying Girona, scoring clutch goals as the Gironistes continue to surprise many at the top of the table.
2Alexander Sorloth | Villarreal | 19 goals
Former Crystal Palace flop Alexander Sorloth may have struggled for goals in England and Germany with RB Leipzig, but he has taken off in Spanish football. He scored a respectable 24 goals in 90 appearances during a two-year loan spell at Real Sociedad, which convinced Villarreal to sign him back in July.
Since joining the Yellow Submarine, Sorloth has scored some clutch goals for Villarreal and will be hoping for consistency in front of goal throughout the season.
3Jude Bellingham | Real Madrid | 18 goals
Real Madrid’s blockbuster summer signing, Jude Bellingham has been unstoppable in front of goal this season and is scoring at a truly remarkable rate.
Having already matched Cristiano Ronaldo’s record of 10 goals in as many games for Los Blancos, the midfield sensation’s precision of late darts into the box, and composure when finishing has left everyone amazed.
While it might still be a bit too early to make lofty claims, it feels like Real Madrid have another future Ballon d’Or winner on their hands.
4Robert Lewandowski | Barcelona | 17 goals
Robert Lewandowski has been one of the best strikers in Europe for the best part of a decade. The 35-year-old Polish goal-machine was imperious for Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich and made a fast start to his Barcelona career.
However, towards the backend of last season, he went cold in front of goal. This season, despite receiving criticism from some sections of the Barca fanbase for his lack of impact in games, the Pole has been amongst the goals and remains one of the favourites to win the Pichichi for the second season running.
5Ante Budimir | Osasuna | 16 goals
Croatian veteran Ante Budimir was the hero for Osasuna in the season finale last season, as his goals helped the Navarra side clinch a spot in the UEFA Europa Conference League for the 2023-24 season. He ended the 2022-23 season with eight goals in 31 matches and is already on track to better that tally this season.
6Borja Mayoral | Getafe | 15 goals
Former Real Madrid Castilla goal-machine Borja Mayoral has been in great form for Getafe since the World Cup break, helping them steer clear of the relegation zone. He has taken that scoring streak into the new season and is really emerging as their talismanic forward.
7Alvaro Morata | Atletico Madrid | 14 goals
Morata has seemingly spent his whole career on the cusp of exploding into life and realising his potential as a prolific striker. While we will have to wait and see whether 2023-24 is truly his year, the 30-year-old Atletico Madrid striker is showing all the signs and is benefiting from the elite supply from partner-in-crime Antoine Griezmann.
8Gorka Guruzeta | Athletic Bilbao | 14 goals
Gorka Guruzeta has emerged as a key scoring figure for Athletic Club in recent times, proving to be an excellent centre-forward with a remarkable sense of grasping the opportunity and effectiveness to facilitate goal-scoring wingers around him.
9Antoine Griezmann | Atletico Madrid | 13 goals
Arguably the best outfield player in La Liga last season, Antoine Griezmann has been in sparkling form ever since re-signing for Atletico Madrid from Barcelona last year. He’s the creator-in-chief for the Rojiblancos and has taken his goal-scoring to a new level. Atleti fans are already dreaming of a third title win in ten years. And Griezmann is sure to play a big part if he can keep his strong form going.

10Vinicius Jr. | Real Madrid | 13 goals
Since Karim Benzema’s departure from Real Madrid, winger Vinicius Jr. has stepped up significantly for Los Blancos. The Brazilian international not only contributed with goals this season but chipped in with some crucial assists to set up the likes of Jude Bellingham and Rodrygo, making Ancelotti’s men a formidable force.
11Hugo Duro | Valencia | 13 goals
Hugo Duro has been impressive in front of goal for Los Che so far this season after a mixed spell since joining the club permanently in 2022. He has already surpassed his 2022-23 La Liga goals tally, further insinuating he is a fine talent despite a previous rough season.
12Youssef En-Nesyri | Sevilla | 12 goals
Youssef En-Nesyri has taken La Liga by storm since he arrived in Spain and has been an influential cog in Sevilla’s European success. Domestically, the Moroccan did thunder 18 goals in the 2020/21 campaign but has since enjoyed a hot and cold stint with Sevilla before finally reaching double digits once again in the 2023/24 campaign.
13Jørgen Strand Larsen | Celta Vigo | 11 goals
Larsen tallied only four goals and four assists across 32 appearances during his debut campaign in La Liga as he spent most of his debut season for Celta as Iago Aspas’ strike partner up front, though January loan signing Haris Seferovic rotated in and out of his place during the second half of the campaign.
With Seferovic returning to his parent club, the 23-year-old has stepped up his output to a new level in 2023/24 under the tutelage of former Real Madrid and Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez.
14Iñaki Williams | Athletic Bilbao | 11 goals
Since Aritz Aduriz’s retirement, Athletic Club have relied on a revolving door of forwards, never truly finding an apt balance, but if one player has been required to operate in the position more than any other, it is Inaki Williams. This season he has reverted to his original position on the right wing, and with that, his output has improved dramatically, and he has been far more effective with the ball as well.
15Myrto Uzuni | Granada | 11 goals
Albanian international Myrto Uzuni joined Granada in 2021/22 from Hungarian outfit Ferencvaros but scored just one goal in 15 outings for the Spanish side.
Uzuni then silenced his doubters with 23 goals in the 2022/23 season playing in the Segunda Division as he continued his purple patch in front of goal in the Spanish top flight in the 2023/24 campaign.
16Rodrygo | Real Madrid | 10 goals
Coming off the back of 19 goals and 10 assists last season, Rodrygo Goes was expected to make another leap this campaign following the departure of talisman Karim Benzema and take on a key part of the goal-scoring responsibility. Despite a slow start to the campaign with just one goal in Real Madrid’s opening 11 games, it appears the Brazilian ace looks to be finding his groove, and producing on a more regular basis in the final third.
17Willian Jose | Real Betis | 10 goals
Jose failed to significantly contribute towards Betis’ success in the 2022/23 campaign as he scored just two goals but the Brazilian international quickly reached double digits in the 2023/24 season.
18Gerard Moreno | Villarreal | 10 goals
Gerard Moreno has carved out his name as one of the most well-rounded Spanish strikers in recent times. After the highs of the 2020-21 La Liga season in which he banged in 23 league goals, he has underwhelmed in the last couple of campaigns, tallying only 19 across two seasons. However, he’s currently riding a strong wave of momentum in terms of goal-scoring and is already on track to beat his last season’s Spanish top-flight haul.
19Samu Omorodion | Deportivo Alaves | 9 goals
Atletico Madrid signed 19-year-old Samu Omorodion and he was shipped off on loan to Deportivo Alaves for the remainder of the campaign.
Omorodion went on a scintillating scoring spree since switching ships on loan as he looks to continue his sublime form before joining Simeone’s men.
20Mikel Oyarzabal | Real Sociedad | 9 goals
After a slightly underwhelming campaign last term, Real Sociedad’s creative goal-scoring winger Mikel Oyarzabal has bounced back in style in the new season and is contributing goals and assists for La Real’s cause.
21Savio | Girona | 8 goals
An integral force behind Girona’s unexpected success in the 2023/24 season, Brazilian forward Savio turned around his side’s performance with his heroics throughout the campaign not only scoring goals but also creating jubilant chances for his teammates.
22Cristhian Stuani | Girona | 8 goals
Veteran forward Cristhian Stuani proved his doubters wrong with his scintillating performances for Girona. The Uruguayan scored 24 goals in the Segunda Division in the 2021/22 campaign following it up with nine goals in the 2022/23 term and he’ll be aiming to continue his goal-scoring spree for Girona.
23Joselu | Real Madrid | 8 goals
Joselu has made a strong impression at Santiago Bernabeu despite the pressure on him to fill in Karim Benzema’s big shoes. The 33-year-old veteran may well be a little too old for what Los Blancos are building right now, but the gangly 6’3″ old-school target man offers them something that they don’t have in attack.
24Angel Correa | Atletico Madrid | 8 goals
Correa is the perfect option coming off the bench to relieve either Griezmann or Morata whenever one of them is in need of rest or when Atetico need something extra.
The versatile attacker regularly finds the net in his supersub role and Diego Simeone will be delighted to have such a top-class forward at his availability.
