THE BIGGER PICTURE
Wayne spent 13 years of his iconic career on United’s books, having joined them as a teenager from boyhood club Everton. He would take in five Premier League title triumphs and a Champions League win during his time with the Red Devils.
DID YOU KNOW?
The ex-England captain also became United’s all-time leading scorer, with 253 efforts to his name, and has passed some of that knowledge on to oldest son Kai – who has been proving that he knows his way to the back of the net with both feet.
WHAT NEXT?
United will have high hopes for Kai, as they look to welcome another goal-getting Rooney into their ranks, and he has been enjoying notable success at youth level. There is a long way to go before he can claim to be following in his father’s footsteps, but the groundwork is being put in place.
