Anthony Martial certain to leave Man Utd this summer after again missing out on matchday squad against Arsenal
- Martial to leave Old Trafford in the summer
- Has not featured for the club since December
- Failed to make matchday squad against Arsenal
WHAT HAPPENED?
Martial, who underwent groin surgery in January, is yet to recover fully and did not make United’s matchday squad against Arsenal on Sunday at Old Trafford. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Frenchman’s time at Old Trafford is up as he is all set to leave them at the end of the current season as a free agent.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Earlier this year it was reported that the Red Devils have decided against triggering the one-year renewal option in his deal as the injury-plagued Frenchman does not feature in the club’s plans for the future.
DID YOU KNOW?
The 28-year-old’s nine-year-long stint at Old Trafford has been nothing short of a disaster. Despite making a bright start to life in Manchester, the attacker has been unable to stay fit in recent seasons and has not consistently delivered the goods in the final third.
WHAT NEXT FOR MANCHESTER UNITED?
After suffering their second consecutive defeat in the Premier League in just a week against Arsenal, Erik ten Hag’s side will now aim to finish the season on a high. They are next up against Newcastle United on Wednesday at Old Trafford.
