- Dolly was with Chiefs for three seasons
- He has now been offloaded by Amakhosi
- SuperSport are set to be his new home
WHAT HAPPENED?
Keagan Dolly was recently released by Kaizer Chiefs together with Sifiso Hlanti and Siyethemba Sithebe.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns star left Chiefs after three seasons and struggled for game time last term as he battled fitness issues.
But 31-year-old Dolly is close to joining a Premier Soccer League club and a source close to the player reveals that three-time PSL champions SuperSport United are the frontrunners in the race for the midfielder’s signature.
WHAT WAS SAID
“It’s not done yet, but probably it [Dolly joining SuperSport] will be soon,” a source told GOAL.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Dolly, Hlanti and Sithebe’s departure come before Nasreddine Nabi officially takes over as Chiefs coach.
It leaves questions over who made the decisions on the players amid criticism that Chiefs management was behind the developments.
The Soweto giants continue rebuilding and getting rid of experienced players leaving them needing to sign high-quality replacements.
WHAT NEXT FOR CHEFS?
Amakhosi now wait for Nabi to lead AS FAR Rabat in the Throne Cup before he starts work at Naturena.
They are expected to get busy in the transfer market once the Tunisian arrives in Johannesburg.
