WHAT HAPPENED?

Hart, 37, was working as a pundit on Ukraine’s clash against Slovakia on Friday afternoon and went on to discuss the form of Mudryk at Chelsea.

The 23-year-old played 85 minutes for his country during the 2-1 win but was left frustrated in the game after failing to find a cutting edge in the final third.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Mudryk signed for Chelsea from Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2023 and has endured a difficult time in London since making the switch. The winger has managed just five goals and two assists across his 46 appearances, which is a fairly disappointing return given his £89m ($109m) price tag.

WHAT HART SAID

“There is a huge talent in him,” Hart told the BBC. “I played against him when he was high on confidence at Shakhtar. They were a pretty average team, to be honest.

“We played well against them. But he was such a threat. He smashed two past me across the two legs. I was really excited when he signed in the Premier League.

“He’s still young. Chelsea are a bit of a difficult club to shine in at the moment. If he is one of the wingers when they find their feet, I’m excited to see what he can do.”

WHAT NEXT FOR MUDRYK?

The Chelsea man will continue to push for glory with Ukraine in Euro 2024 with his side currently sitting in second place in Group E. They will face Belgium in their final fixture across the group stages on Wednesday (June 26).
