THE BIGGER PICTURE

While analysing the match as a pundit on Dutch TV NOS, United boss Ten Hag criticised England’s approach in the game while taking a swipe at Southgate’s vision. The English coach was briefly linked with a move to Old Trafford in the summer before the club decided to retain the services of the Dutchman.

WHAT ERIK TEN HAG SAID

Speaking on NOS, Ten Hag said, “It’s the vision of the manager [Southgate]. England will take a 1-0 lead, then he [Southgate] decides to start gambling with making his team compact and relying on moments for the remaining minutes of the game.”
