Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is not surprised that Marcus Rashford missed out on being picked in the England squad for Euro 2024.
- Ten Hag feels Rashford deserved to miss out on Euros
- Attacker displayed inconsistent performances for Man Utd
- Scored just eight goals across all competitions
WHAT HAPPENED?
After displaying stellar form in Ten Hag’s first season in charge at Old Trafford, Rashford had an underwhelming outing in the 2023/24 campaign where he managed to score just eight goals and provide five assists in 43 appearances across all competitions.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
His poor form across the season led to him being dropped from the England squad for the ongoing Euro 2024. While Southgate’s decision took aback a section of the fans, the Red Devils manager felt it was only fair that he was left out of the squad after such an average display.
WHAT ERIK TEN HAG SAID
Speaking on NOS, the 54-year-old said, “Grealish and Rashford were both lacking this season. And when you are lacking, you risk not getting picked for your country.”
WHAT NEXT FOR MARCUS RASHFORD?
The attacker will hope to regain form in the upcoming 2024/25 season as he will be back in action for United next month. The English giants are set to travel to the US for pre-season.
