- Dutchman has three major demands
- Wants Sancho to apologise before return
WHAT HAPPENED?
Despite being linked with a number of different managers since the end of the season, United have finally decided to stay put with the Dutchman and will reportedly offer him a three-year contract extension. However, he reportedly has three major demands before will accepts the deal.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
As per The Sun, the first of the three demands is that he does not want any meddling in team tactics matters by technical director Jason Wilcox, who attempted to suggest that the Dutchman should play Bruno Fernandes in a false nine role in their FA Cup final against Manchester City.
The second demand comes in the form of the ongoing feud between Ten Hag and Jadon Sancho after the two had a public meltdown over the winger’s commitment in training. Sancho then labelled Ten Hag a liar on social media and was frozen out of the squad by the Dutchman. Ten Hag has made it clear that he does not want the Englishman back in the first team until he apologises.
The third demand is that he wants first-team coach Benni McCarthy’s contract renewed as well alongside his own.
DID YOU KNOW?
Ten Hag was on the verge of being sacked before shocking Manchester City in the FA Cup final. A rally of support meant it was eventually decided that he would remain at the club, even though United finished eighth in the Premier League – a record low for the team – and gave up a record-breaking 58 goals to finish with a negative goal differential for the first time in their history.
WHAT NEXT FOR TEN HAG?
Ten Hag will now begin preparations for the pre-season and the upcoming campaign as he will look to improve on last season’s woeful Premier League finish, while they will also compete in the Europa League after winning the FA Cup.
