- Pedro Lima wanted by European giants
- Would cost as little as £6m
- Unclear which destination he’ll choose
WHAT HAPPENED?
Per AS, Chelsea and Madrid are both battling to sign Lima from Sport Recife. The Blues are said to be pushing to sign the full-back, who has already been called up by Brazil at youth level, while Real view him as a potential long-term replacement to Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez, who are both 32.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Chelsea remain the frontrunners to sign Lima, but Real are aware that they have the option of developing him within the Castilla setup. His asking price of around £6 million ($7.6m) is more than affordable for both clubs, but it remains to be seen if that figure will rise amid such intense interest.
DID YOU KNOW?
Lima has a contract until 2027 and at the age of 17, has already made 25 senior appearances for Sport Recife. It appears unlikely he will be adding many more as the summer looms.
WHAT NEXT?
Chelsea and Real look set to go head-to-head for Lima’s signature. It may ultimately come down to the youngster’s preference.
