- Earps got injured last week
- Could not travel to France with her teammates
- Supported the Lionesses from home comforts
WHAT HAPPENED?
The Manchester United goalkeeper could not travel to the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard Stadium in Saint-Etienne afterpicking up a hip injury just 30 seconds into an earlier Euro 2024 qualifier against Les Bleus. However, she would have been jubilant since her teammates did the job away from home and eked out a 2-1 victory thanks to two first-half goals from Georgia Stanway and Alessia Russo.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Earps, who was visibly in pain, strived to continue even but had to be eventually subbed off by Sarina Wiegman. Subsequently, she could not make it to the England squad due to the injury but cheered on from the comforts of her home as Wiegman’s troops fought against the French.
WHAT EARPS SAID
Before the match kicked off, Earps took to her Instagram story and uploaded a picture where she was seen following the live action on television and wrote: “Let’s go girls! 💪 @lionesses”.
WHAT NEXT FOR EARPS?
Wiegman had revealed that it is a minor injury and the Earps should be back in the squad ahead of the next national team camp in July. She will hope to return to full fitness and reclaim her position as the No.1 on July 12 against the Republic of Ireland in another Euro 2025 qualifier.
