Under his tutelage, the club finished second behind Leicester City in the Championship in the 2023/24 campaign and returned to the top division for the first time since the 2001/02 season.

Despite having an active contract until 2027, the Tractor Boys are planning to offer their manager a new long-term deal, however, according to BBC, McKenna will reject any new contract offers that come his way as he is prepared to take the next step in his career amid interest from clubs like Chelsea, Manchester United and Brighton.
