- Dele training to keep himself fit
- Has recovered from a hamstring injury
- Everton to hand the midfielder a lifeline
WHAT HAPPENED?
Dele had been hampered by a long-term groin problem but the former Tottenham star has been taking significant steps in his effort to make a full comeback ahead of the 2024-25 campaign. He has been posting regular training updates on his Instagram profile where the player is seen putting in the hard yards on the grass.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
In a recent video, Dele was spotted practising shooting and finishing drills with elite athlete performance specialist Connor Peters. He had also been training with Kyle Walker-Peters, Trevoh Chalobah, and Dominic Solanke to stay ahead of the curve.
DID YOU KNOW?
The Liverpool Echo reports that Everton are committed to supporting Dele through his rehabilitation process. The club’s decision to offer him another opportunity reflects their belief in his potential to contribute positively to the team despite just 13 appearances for the Merseyside club till now after signing from Tottenham in 2022.
WHAT NEXT?
Dele’s current deal with Everton is set to expire at the end of June, and extending it would require renegotiations with Tottenham. The original transfer agreement included Everton paying a substantial fee to Spurs to get a new contract in place – which the Toffees are eager to avoid.
