WHAT HAPPENED?
Per The Athletic, the 23-year-old is on the verge of finalising a record transfer from Atlanta United to Brazilian top-division side Botafogo this summer. The American side have reportedly agreed to sell their star attacker for a league record $21 million (£16m) plus add-ons which could further increase the valuation of the deal to $30m (£23m)
THE BIGGER PICTURE
The Argentina international has been linked with a move away from the club for some time now. Other than the Brazilians, Premier League side Crystal Palace and Ligue 1 giants Lyon were also keen on signing the player ahead of the 2024-25 season on a record deal.
