Cosafa Cup: Predicting Bafana Bafana's XI to face Eswatini - Antonio van Wyk to start ahead of Ethan Brooks?

Helmen Mkhalele and his men have only this one last group match to ensure that they progress to the Cosafa Cup knockout stages.

All eyes will be turning to Bafana Bafana on Tuesday when they host Eswatini at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

SA will be looking to improve on their disappointing start in the tournament. They have drawn their first two games against Mozambique and Botswana, both nil-nil draws that have brought criticism of both the team and the technical bench.

Here, Footballblogzz predicts how Mkhalele could line up his team against Sihlangu Semnikati.

Mondli Mpoto of Bafana Bafana, June 2019

GOALKEEPER: Mondli Mpoto

Mpoto did well against Mozambique and Botswana and Mkhalele is likely to retain him.

Thabang Matuludi, Bafana Bafana, June 2024

RIGHT-BACK: Thabang Matuludi

Matuludi has been performing well for Bafana Bafana. The coach should continue using him on the right-hand side.

Malebogo Modise, South Africa, 2017

LEFT-BACK: Malebogo Modise

The Mamelodi Sundowns loanee left-back played well in the last match and Mkhalele might decide to continue with him.

Athenkosi Mcaba, South Africa U23, March 2023

CENTRE-BACK: Athenkosi Mcaba

Mcaba did well when he was introduced towards the end of the match against Botswana. He should start ahead of Thabo Moloisane against Eswatini.

Rushwin Dortley, Bafana Bafana, June 2024

CENTRE-BACK: Rushwin Dortley

The 22-year-old defender proved his capabilities in the last games. His experience and leadership skills will be needed in the defence.

South Africa

CENTRAL-MIDFIELDER: Liam Berm

The Cape Town Spurs star player could fit well in the defensive midfield position for this clash.

Sinoxolo Kwayiba, Chippa United. May 2024.

CENTRAL-MIDFIELDER: Sinoxolo Kwayiba

Mkhalele should partner Kwayiba with Bern in the midfield as they had a good combination in the goalless draw against Botswana last week.

Abel Jochua Nhantumbo & Devin Titus, Bafana Bafana vs Mozambique, June 2024

RIGHT-WINGER: Devin Titus

The speedy winger would want to help Bafana win the Cosafa Cup and he would be the right man to operate in the right winger position.

Asanele Velebayi, Cape Town Spurs

LEFT-WINGER: Asanele Velabayi

Velabayi has been consistent in this year’s edition and he should to continue at the left wing ahead of everyone in the squad.

Ethan Brooks, Bafana Bafana, June 2021

ATTACKING-MIDFIELDER: Antonio van Wyk

Brooks did not impress since first game and and Nkhalele might replace him with Antonio Van Wyk in this match.

Thabang Sibanyoni, SuperSport United, July 2022

CENTRE-FORWARD: Thabang Sibanyoni

Lately, some supporters have been bashing him for failing to score goals, however, the attacker is currently one of the top strikers in the local football and he will want to prove his doubters wrong.
