Loris Karius shared photos from his wedding after tying the knot with Italian TV presenter and model Diletta Leotta on Saturday.
The extravagant ceremony on the island of Vulcano was watched on by 160 guests including the likes of Elisabetta Canalis, Michelle Hunziker, and Elodie and Eleonora Berlusconi.
Accompanied by her father, Leotta walked down the aisle at the five-star Therasia Resort to John Legend’s All of Me.
On the day of his 31st birthday Karius opted for a tuxedo with a white jacket, whilst his wife donned a Atelier Eme veil emblazoned with the phrase ‘All I ever wanted’.
The pair exchanged vows in front of a stunning view of the Tyrrhenian Sea alongside their daughter Aria who turns one in August.
After spending time in Manchester City’s youth academy, Karius would begin his senior career with German side Mainz and would go on to make 96 appearances for the Bundesliga side before joining Liverpool.
Signed by Jurgen Klopp to succeed the error-prone Simon Mignolet, the German struggled to maintain the consistency that had made him so vaunted in his native country.
Despite starting his second season at Anfield as the club’s No 2, Karius would be ever present as Klopp’s burgeoning side reached the final of the Champions League for the first time in over a decade.
Unfortunately for him that night in Kyiv would prove to the nadir of Karius’ football career as he made a pair of high-profile mistakes that both led to goals as the Reds fell to a 3-1 defeat against Real Madrid.
Though it later emerged that Karius had suffered a concussion prior to the errors, he never played another competitive fixture for Liverpool, as they broke the world record transfer fee for a goalkeeper to sign Alisson months later.
After his contract on Merseyside expired, Karius joined Newcastle to serve as the club’s third-choice goalkeeper in 2022.
With Nick Pope suspended and Martin Dubravka cup-tied, Karius made his first appearance for the Magpies in their EFL Cup final loss to Man United at Wembley.
The former Germany youth international was again called upon for Newcastle’s clash with Arsenal in February, earning praise for his performance despite a 4-1 defeat.
Karius’ deal at St James’ Park is set to expire at the end of the month and he will become a free agent after the club decided not to offer him a new contract.
