THE BIGGER PICTURE

Welcome to Wrexham has pulled in Emmy prizes, and various other award nods, with the series taking supporters behind the scenes at SToK Racecourse and across the wider community. Famous faces have been flocking to take in the live action, while three series of the show continue to pull in viewers.

WHAT HARVEY SAID

It has, however, been confirmed that Wrexham as a club are not paid for starring in the production. According to the minutes from the club’s Fan Advisory Board meeting on April 25, 2024: “Shaun Harvey confirmed the club does not gain any direct financial benefit from the series. What the club does receive is a marketing platform to increase the value of all our sponsorship investors and greater exposure of the club which is driving retail sales.”

WHAT NEXT FOR WREXHAM?

Reynolds and McElhenney are benefiting from the success of Welcome to Wrexham, while commercial deals have been put in place on the back of more partners wanting to buy into the show and the team. That is helping to keep collective coffers ticking over, with more funds set to be invested in the summer transfer window of 2024.
