- US Women headed to TST championship match
- Defeated Tampa Bay Sun 4-0
- Set to compete for $1m cash prize
WHAT HAPPENED?
A 4-0 victory after Target Score Time helped send the US Women to the TST Championship match Monday evening. A brace from Tessa Dellarose and Kenne Kessler secured their advancement, as the Tampa Bay Sun were knocked out in the semifinals of the women’s bracket.
The US Women, led by former USWNT stars Ali Krieger, Heather O’Reilly and Allie Long, will now compete for $1m in the final.
The US Women went into the halftime break sporting a 1-0 lead, with a goal courtesy of UNC soccer star Dellarose. Tampa Bay Sun were then awarded a penalty kick shortly at the start of the second half, but a brilliant save by goalkeeper Lindsey Harris denied them from the spot.
The US doubled their lead shortly thereafter via Dellarose, notching her second of the game. The third strike arrived with two minutes to spare ahead of Target Score Time through Kessler, who then scored the winner in TST.
