- Arsenal want Douglas Luiz this summer
- Asking price of £50m set by Aston Villa
- Also has interest from Juventus and AC Milan
WHAT HAPPENED?
Arsenal and Mikel Arteta are keen to improve their squad going into next season as they look to do one better than the last two seasons as they finished second in the Premier League title race. As such, they have put Luiz on their midfield shortlist and as per The Mirror, the Gunners will have to cough up £50 million ($63.5m) to sign him this summer.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Aston Villa and Unai Emery are not very keen on seeing the Brazilian depart this summer as they prepare for their Champions League venture, however, the Villains are not secure with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules and they will have to make sales to offset any new signings that they make.
DID YOU KNOW?
Juventus and AC Milan have also shown interest in the Brazilian’s services and will have to work on the same asking price this summer. The Old Lady have reportedly thought about offering Weston McKennie to Emery’s side to sweeten the deal and reduce the cash output as they are not keen on parting with that big a sum.
WHAT NEXT FOR LUIZ?
Luiz’s future will now likely only be decided after the completion of the Copa America as he has been called up to the Brazil squad by Dorival Junior. They will begin their campaign with a clash against Costa Rica on June 24.
