THE BIGGER PICTURE
The defeat means that Ronaldo is still yet to win a trophy with his Al-Nassr side following his move to the Middle East from Manchester United in 2022. In the Saudi Pro League, Al-Nassr finished a distant 14 points behind champions Al-Hilal, who completed a domestic double by winning the King’s Cup. Yet Ronaldo can console himself with the fact he picked up the Saudi Pro League Golden Boot for 2023-24 after scoring 35 goals in 31 games.
WHAT NEXT FOR RONALDO
Ronaldo will now turn his attention to Euro 2024 and the chance of glory with Portugal. The 39-year-old remains a vital player for Roberto Martinez’s side, with Portugal aiming to be crowned European champions for the first time since 2016.
