- American joined the Whites in 2022
- Suffered relegation in debut campaign
- Reached the end of Berlin loan deal
WHAT HAPPENED?
The 23-year-old completed a big-money transfer to Elland Road in the summer of 2022. He suffered relegation out of the Premier League at the end of his debut campaign, with a move elsewhere considered to be inevitable at that stage.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Aaronson was allowed to link up with Bundesliga outfit Union Berlin, as they prepared to enter the Champions League, but the 2023-24 campaign was another frustrating one for the New Jersey native as he once again struggled to find a spark.
DID YOU KNOW?
Leeds have failed to bounce back into the English top-flight during Aaronson’s absence – suffering play-off final heartache against Southampton – and more big future calls now need to be made. Marc Roca has already confirmed that the terms of his contract will allow another loan to be taken in – potentially at Real Betis.

WHAT NEXT FOR AARONSON?
According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Aaronson has no such agreement in his deal. That means – after being included in the United States’ provisional squad for a Copa America on home soil – he will be expected back at Leeds this summer before a decision is made on whether or stay or go in 2024-25.
