WHAT HAPPENED?
Pioli’s five-year-long tenure at the helm of AC Milan has come to an end with the Rossoneri opting to part ways with the 58-year-old. They are now set to sign Fonseca to take over this summer as they look to return to challenging for the Serie A title after Inter Milan won the most recent Scudetto.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
As per Calciomercato, the Portuguese manager has already fully agreed all terms with the seven-time Champions League winners and will sign the contract officially with them when the club returns from the post-season friendlies in Australia.
DID YOU KNOW?
Fonseca’s contract with Lille will run out this summer and the Portuguese was also linked with a move to Marseille, who as per the report were ready to offer a bigger deal than the Rossoneri. However, Fonseca preferred Milan’s project and is set to sign a three-year deal.
WHAT NEXT FOR MILAN?
The Italian giants are currently touring Australia for a post-season friendlies tour and will be in action on May 31 when they take on Fonseca’s former side Roma at Optus Stadium in Perth.
