WHAT HAPPENED?
Bayern Munich Frauen retained their Bundesliga crown earlier this month, with England ace Stanway scoring in a crucial 2-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen. Now the season is over, thousands turned out in Munich to celebrate their triumph, with Stanway and team-mate Pernille Harder drinking beer out of a huge glass – without getting too far.

WHAT BAYERN MUNICH SAID ABOUT THE CELEBRATIONS
In an Instagram video, the German giants wrote: “🏆 POV celebrating the championship in front of thousands – on a Tuesday at noon… 🤯🤩🥹Danke, liebe Bayern-Fans!!! ❤️🤍.”
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Stanway’s decision to leave Manchester City for Bayern in 2022 has proven to be a shrewd one. While she won seven trophies at the Women’s Super League side, she has now lifted two consecutive Bundesliga titles and is arguably playing some of the best football of her career in Germany.
WHAT NEXT?
Now that the season is over, Stanway will link up with the Lionesses as they prepare for a Euro 2025 qualifying double header against a talented French side on May 31 at St James’ Park and then Stade Geoffroy-Guichard on June 4.
