- Pochettino available after leaving Chelsea
- Interested in England job
- Has also emerged as target for Manchester United
WHAT HAPPENED?
The Argentine is already thinking about his next move after leaving Chelsea by mutual consent after just one season at Stamford Bridge. Pochettino is keen on taking over the England job from Gareth Southgate, if the Three Lions boss moves on after Euro 2024, and is also interested in managing Manchester United, according to The Telegraph. Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad are also believed to hold an interest in Pochettino.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Pochettino has openly admitted he would “relish” the chance of managing England and the job may well come up this summer. Southgate has hinted he could retire after Euro 2024 if the Three Lions are victorious. Yet Pochettino may receive an alternative offer before then. Manchester United are set to sack Erik ten Hag this summer, regardless of whether they win the FA Cup final, and the former Chelsea boss is a target for the Red Devils.
DID YOU KNOW?
Chelsea scored 51 goals through players under the age of 23 in the Premier League this season under Pochettino – no team has ever scored more in a single campaign in the competition.
WHAT NEXT FOR POCHETTINO
Pochettino leaves Chelsea after seeing his team end a tough campaign on a winning run that clinched sixth place and European football for next season. The former Chelsea boss joins the likes of Thomas Tuchel, Massimiliano Allegri, Roberto De Zerbi and Jurgen Klopp in leaving high-profile clubs. Meanwhile, Chelsea now join Bayern, Juventus, Brighton and, potentially Manchester United, in looking for a new coach.
