This week, Real Madrid icon Kroos announced he would hang up his boots after Euro 2024 – sparking a deluge of tributes from fellow professionals, pundits, fans and more. Among the well-wishers was Al-Nassr star Ronaldo, who played alongside the German international at Real between 2014-18. The Portuguese legend said it was an “honour” to have been the 34-year-old’s team-mate for a time and wished him the best for the future.

Kroos will play his last La Liga game on Saturday when Madrid take on Real Betis, before they lock horns with Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League final on June 1. His German side begin their Euro 2024 campaign against Scotland on June 14.
