- Ten Hag shares update on Shaw and Maguire
- Maguire could return for the FA Cup final
- Shaw unlikely to feature after relapse
WHAT HAPPENED?
The Red Devils still have one more game to contend with before their crucial clash against Manchester City in the FA Cup final. Ten Hag has now revealed that while the English duo are unavailable for their last Premier League clash of the season against Brighton, they could be available for the trip to Wembley. He also responded to questions about whether the duo will be in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Euro 2024.
WHAT TEN HAG SAID
Speaking to the media, Ten Hag said: “For England, I can’t say, it’s not up to me. But for the cup final, we’re working on [it].
“I think Harry Maguire, I think it’s a fair chance that he will be available. We plan [for] him. Luke is more complicated. In this moment, let’s say it’s a less chance that he will make it. But there is still a very small, reduced chance. He had a setback, now we have to find out how far [from a return] he is.”
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Man Utd have suffered an extensive amount of injuries this season, especially in defence with the likes of Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw having missed large chunks of the campaign. The injuries have also taken a toll on the Red Devils’ season and as such the security of Ten Hag’s job likely depends on the result of the FA Cup final.
WHAT NEXT FOR MAN UTD?
Ten Hag’s men will now take on Brighton on the last matchday of the Premier League at Amex Stadium on May 19. They will then prepare for the Manchester Derby in the FA Cup final on May 25.
