- Goalkeeper seeing current deal run down
- Has been linked with leading sides in Europe
- Finally has a major trophy with Red Devils
WHAT HAPPENED?
The England international goalkeeper is yet to commit to fresh terms with the Red Devils, meaning that speculation regarding her next move continues to rage. There has been talk of a new challenge being taken on, after five years in Manchester, but Earps is now an FA Cup winner.
WHAT EARPS SAID
Asked by Sky Sports whether challenging for trophies will impact a big career call, Earps said: “Of course, that’s what I want to do, I want to win! I’m going to enjoy it and take in a special moment – five years of hard work. It’s special. I’ve been here for a long time and it’s not been an easy season for anyone. This is really nice and makes it worth it. Winning at Wembley never gets old!”
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Earps added on seeing United, who have been unable to piece together a WSL title challenge, securing major silverware by seeing off Tottenham 4-0 at the home of English football: “I think we have been brilliant in the FA Cup this year. We have come together at a really good time. You could feel it all week, how much it meant to everyone. I’m glad we could get the job done. It’s not been easy.”
DID YOU KNOW?
Fellow England star Ella Toone got the ball rolling against Spurs with a stunning 20-yard strike, and Earps said of her talented team-mate: “She’s a top player. She’s Man United through and through. She’s been there for so long and come up through the ranks – her face is on the academy walls, so it reminds us everyday! Unbelievable goal, unbelievable finish. She has scored a couple of rockets this season. Buzzing for her.”
WHAT NEXT?
United have one more fixture to take in this season, which could impact the WSL title race, with Chelsea – in what will be Emma Hayes’ final game in charge of the Blues – their opponents on Saturday with a domestic crown on the line.
