WHAT HAPPENED?
Wirtz has had a spectacular season with Die Werkself, and as a result, a lot of clubs have shown an interest in signing the youngster. Real Madrid look at the German as a potential signing, however, they do not plan to sign him this summer and have a plan to make him a marquee signing in the summer of 2025, as per Marca.

Leverkusen slapped an eye-watering price tag of €150 million (£128m/$161.8m) on the 21-year-old for clubs trying to sign him this summer. However, Real Madrid have their financial priorities tied up with the potential signings of Kylian Mbappe, Endrick, Leny Yoro and Alphonso Davies, who they consider as must-haves this summer. Los Blancos will rather target Wirtz next summer along with the signing of Argentine wonderkid Franco Mastantuono.

It has been reported that the 14-time Champions League winners will also look to bring Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso on board, with Die Werkself CEO Fernando Carro also claiming that the Spaniard will become Real Madrid coach at some point.
