WHAT HAPPENED?
After signing Harry Kane and Eric Dier from Tottenham Hotspur in the current season, the Bundesliga giants have now set their sights on Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton, according to The Sun. The 20-year-old, who joined The Eagles in January from Blackburn Rovers, has appeared in 15 straight Premier League games, where he scored twice and provided three assists.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
The Sun report also claimed that Palace could demand a transfer fee in the region of £60m (€69m). Along with Wharton, the Bavarian side are keeping tabs on Everton’s Amadou Onana who is likely to be available for £50m (€58m).
DID YOU KNOW?
The former German champions have been in search of a quality midfield option since last summer. They had tried to sign Portugal international Joao Palhinha from Fulham, however, they failed to land the player as he ended up signing a new deal with the English side.
WHAT NEXT FOR ADAM WHARTON?
It remains to be seen if the youngster – who has a contract until 2029 – leaves Palace in the summer and ends up completing an ambitious move to Germany to play alongside England skipper Harry Kane. For now, he will be next seen in action on Sunday as his team face Aston Villa in the final game of the season.
